1. What is CM 60s?

CM (Combed Cotton) 

Cotton fibres are processed through a "combing" machine before spun into yarn. This removes shorter fibres, impurities and knot-like clusters, leaving only long, straight fibres. Combed Cotton is noticeably stronger, smoother and softer than carded (uncombed) cotton. 

60s (60 Count / Thread Fineness) 

In the textile industry, the "count" indicates yarn thinness. A higher count means a finer yarn. 

• Standard t-shirts typically use 20s to 30s yarns. 
• 60s indicates a very high-grade, fine yarn that produces lightweight, breathable and smooth fabrics. 

2. What is Biowashing?

Key Benefits:

• Anti-pilling: Prevents fuzz balls from forming after washing.
• Softness: Creates a smooth, comfortable texture without synthetic chemical softeners.
  
• Colour Brightness: Colour looks cleaner because surface fuzz no longer scatters light.
  
• Eco-Friendly: Uses biodegradable, non-toxic enzymes at lower temperatures instead of harsh chemicals.

3. CM 60s, Bio-washing fabric for Korean Bedding products 

CM 60s (Combed Cotton, 60 yarn count) and biowashed cotton are heavily used in Korean bedding production due to specific cultural preferences in bedding design, hygiene standards, and climate.

The primary reasons manufacturers combine these two techniques include:

1. Adaptation for "Coverless" Comforters (Charyeop, 차렵)

Unlike Western bedding, which typically relies on duvet covers over inserts, traditional and modern Korean bedding frequently uses coverless comforters (charyeop-ibul, 차렵이불). Because the outer shell directly touches the skin continuously and must undergo frequent machine washing:

• CM 60s provides a silky, high-density weave that feels lightweight and luxurious directly against bare skin.
• Biowashing breaks down loose micro-fibres, preventing pilling or fraying even with frequent home laundering.

2. Hypoallergenic & Dust-Mite Resistant Properties

A core priority in Korean interior and home goods design is hygiene, particularly minimising dust accumulation and dust mites.

High-Density Weave: Tightly woven 60s thread count produces a dense fabric surface with tiny gaps, creating a physical barrier that helps prevent dust mites from penetrating into the inner batting.

Removal of Lint: Bio-washing eliminates loose micro-fuzz that naturally sheds from raw cotton fibres. This yields a low-dust fabric suitable for sensitive skin or respiratory concerns.

3. Natural Softness and Breathability

Korea experiences distinct seasonal shifts—hot, humid summers and cold winters. Bedding materials must balance breathability with insulation:

Fine Yarn Weight: 60s combed yarn utilises long-staple cotton fibres that are thin yet durable. This allows the bedding to stay breathable without feeling heavy or stiff.

Enzyme Treatment: Bio-Washing yields a soft texture naturally without relying on heavy chemical softeners that might wash off or irritate sensitive skin over time.

4. Aesthetics and Colour Retention

Korean bedding aesthetic trends favour matte textures, soft pastel tones, and a relaxed, vintage-like appearance.

• The biowashing process gently strips residual dyes and surface fuzz, giving the fabric a soft matte finish with colour stability that resists fading over time.
• Many of bio-washing cotton fabrics come into refreshing, vivid and beautiful colours that are used to make Korean Blankets or bedding items too.

CM 60s Bio-Washed 100% Cotton fabric are often used to produce Korean Blankets, Comforters and other bedding items. Custom-made Korean bedding service is also often available depending on your preferences and requirements. The fabric comes into different sizes like 63" and 97". The use of CM60s Bio-Washed 97" is often preferred to make Korean Bedding items to suit Australian Bedding sizes as it is particularly useful when making larger bedding sizes.

Our Experience

Why We Started Offering Custom-Made Bedding

Over time, we've noticed that there had been increasing number of customers visiting our Cabramatta store looking for Korean bedding items for King and Super King sizes in Australia. 

This is one of the reasons we decided to offer a custom-made Korean bedding service.

Custom-made bedding does cost more than choosing a standard Korean bedding product from the shelf. However, it gives you much more control over what you are buying. You can choose the fabric, sizes and colour you like. 

This can be particularly useful for King and Super King beds, as well as beds with dimensions that don't fit neatly into standard Australian bedding sizes. Based on our experience, Custom-made bedding service can be an option for people:

• Looking for King / Super King Size bedding items 
• Looking for Larger bedding items to cover the sides of the bed

For our CM 60s Bio-Washed Cotton range, we use 97-inch-wide fabric, which gives the manufacturer more width to work with when producing larger bedding. This way, it can be produced to suit Australian bedding sizes nicely.
